Robert Menendez called on US Senate to recognize Armenian Genocide
YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Robert Menendez criticized Turkey’s attacks on Syrian Kurds and generally unacceptable regional behavior in his address to the Senate. “Armenpress”, the Armenian National Committee of America reports, Menendez stated that the Senate should recognize the resolution on the Armenian Genocide, following the example of the House of Representatives.
Robert Menendez recalled that Erdogan’s bodyguards attacked peaceful demonstrators in Washington, noting that after the House of Representatives adopted the resolution on the Armenian Genocide, Turkey made no attempt to ban the adoption of such a resolution in the Senate. According to him, Ankara knows that if the resolution is put to a vote, it will be adopted.
The senator emphasized that the Senate should not be subjected to pressure from Turkey and immediately recognize the Armenian Genocide.
